Ok, so here’s how it goes. You want to go camping. Where to start. How to start. What’s the difference between this, that and everything else. How do I build a trip? What campgrounds do I choose? How do I even find them? + a hundred other questions answered.
Glossary of wtf I’m talking about:
Pull Through Spot:
A spot in which you can pull your trailer or RV all the way through. No need to back up, and at times, no need to unhitch
Back Up Spot:
A spot where you can only back up your trailer, thus limiting the position of your door or hookups (or view)
Hitch/Unhitch:
Attaching the trailer to your towing vehicle/unattaching the trailer to your towing vehicle (this is not as simple as legos, Michael 2¢ please
FHU:
Full Hook Ups. Water, Electric, Sewer. These sites are saviors after a week of Dry Camping. But usually FHU sites mean you have pretty close neighbors, or a pretty commercial vibe to them
Dry Camping:
No water, electricity or sewer connection. Which means every time you turn on a faucet, or flush a toilet, or make noodles you have to pay attention how much water is being used, and how much water is going down the drain
Generator:
This is how you get electricity when you are dry camping. Generators are noisy, like a lawnmower. Usually there are generator hours: 8:00am-6:00pm (ish). They use gasoline to try to not spill that all over your shoes or the back of your car. When using your generator, charge EVERYTHING while it is running. The sounds of it is a total BK and you’ll probably want to turn it off ASAP
BK:
Buzz Kill
Greywater:
The water that goes down the drain into the “greywater tank”. Kitchen sink water, shower drain water, toothpaste water, etc. You want to make sure the greywater is full when you flush the black water tank. (Michael has 2¢ about this)
Black Water:
Everything that goes down the toilet. PSA: Never put tampons down the toilet. Flush black water tank first, then the grey water tank second. (Michael has 2 more ¢ about this)
Jackknifing:
When the towing car and the trailer create an unnatural looking triangle. No bueno
